Many believe that atheism is the complete lack of a moral code. Instead, I would argue that a theist that does not perform an amoral action because they fear divine retribution is less moral than an atheist that chooses not to perform an amoral action simply on the basis that it is an amoral thing to do.
I personally find my moral code to be on par with many of my theistic peers, even though I developed my morals in absence of any religious input.
