The law school provides mentorship and research resources to help Fellows develop their scholarship and place favorably on the teaching market.
Faculty members of the Legal Research and Writing Committee advise Fellows about their research projects and help match Fellows with faculty mentors.
Fellows are expected, upon reappointment, to serve a second term, and may request to be reappointed for a third year.
Reappointment requests are evaluated for demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and citizenship at the school.
The salary for Fellows starting in 2020 is $72,000 and is increased by $2000 in the second and another $2000 in the third year of the fellowship. and at least two years of law practice or clerkship experience in the US before the start of employment.
The fellowship program is demanding and Fellows are expected to devote full-time effort to it. Many Fellows have substantially more law practice experience.Each fellow is provided a 00 annual budget (0 from the University’s Staff Training Assistant Funds, 00 from the law school) for professional development and research costs, such as attending conferences and trainings, hiring research assistants, and paying for fees and hotel for the AALS Hiring Conference.The initial term of appointment is one year and will begin in June or July 2020.Each quarter culminates in a persuasive brief and oral argument.All research and writing assignments relate to each quarter’s simulation and are uniform across the program.At the time of appointment, applicants must have completed a Ph. in industrial relations, sociology, political science, anthropology, management, or other related disciplines.Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, vita, research statement, teaching statement, diversity and inclusion statement, writing sample, and three reference letters.
