In this context, English is presented as the global language or lingua franca necessary for global intercommunication.Moreover when the multinational companies cooperate with a country, they also bring their religion, culture, and life style.Meeting them, the people in the poor country increase their standard of living and get acquainted with new civilization.“Many would reasonably claim that, in the fields of business, academics, science, computing, education, transportation, politics and entertainment, English is already established as the de facto lingua franca” (Mastin, 2011 language good or bad for us? The truth is, English as a globalizing language can bring us good for Economics and local culture. In my following essay, I will divide into three parts.Firstly, I will describe the reason of English as a lingua-franca.That means that accepting a language in a society produces linguistic imperialism where the language is not seen as a structured semiotic code but as a language that carry on economic, political and social components.Furthermore, linguistic imperialism means the extinction of the linguistic diversity, because there are strong links between language dominance and cultural power.For instance, the English language teaching (ESL) business has become one of the major growth industries around the world.As Hutton (1998) states, "It is not accidental that one of the prosperous industries of Great Britain is the teaching of English: The UK earns more than billion a year teaching English to 600,000 students annually." That proves the...The development in industry, economy, culture and polity gives solutions to social problems.The most serious problem of all of the governments in the world is unemployment, which leads to poverty, social crime, illiteracy, can be easily clenched as most of the labour in developing countries are very cheap so the multinational companies always employ the worker in host countries.
